Who is the loved one who did take her hand and began a dance to the sun moon and stars?
Maybe your dad, mother, sibling, child, grandparents, a friend, the neighbour who waved every time in the window.
Saying this, I want somebody to introduce to you:
“Lily” a last dance with dead.. A bridge between two worlds.
A story about our journey when somebody died, chaos, emptiness, pain, feelings, numbness, followed by silence..
At the same time she tells a story of the loved ones who climbed in there last boat, one last journey to “Lily’s” sun. The warmth, rest, peace, light..
A contrast between two worlds and journey’s fushed together by the dancing of dead trough the roots inside the tree of life.
“Lily” is a bridge to all the loved ones we miss…
Catherina Pearls, also known as Ciska Verkerk, was born in Culemborg, Netherlands in 1994.
She draws inspiration from the darkness, shadows, and contrasts of life, using her drawings and paintings to initiate a dialogue with herself. Through her pencil and ink, she communicates with her work, creating stories that revolve around the keywords of survival, recognition, and emotions. Her events are relatable to everyone with a significant inspiration drawn from her traumatic childhood.
Catherina has taught herself to form shapes, movements, and flow human collective emotions with her brushstrokes, reflecting them as a mirror for the viewers. She has been recognized as a young emerging artist since 2022.
