Carine Ramos is a contemporary French artist born in 1974. After earning a Master’s degree in Fine Arts in Bordeaux, she embarked on a multifaceted artistic journey as a visual artist, gallery owner, and teacher.
Her work revolves around the themes of memory and remembrance, which she explores through the medium of old postcards. Since 2009, Carine has balanced her dedication to teaching in middle school with her passion for artistic exploration. Her curiosity and desire to experience new cultures have taken her across continents, including Africa, Asia, and Latin America. These travels fuel her creativity, with travel notebooks filled with drawings, words, photos, and collages serving as inspiration for her paintings. Particularly captivated by landscapes and trees, she treats the latter as portraits, delving into their roots, embellishing them with colors and ornaments, and inviting viewers to engage with their stories.
In 2015, an Erasmus training in Spain marked a turning point in her artistic practice. During her visit to the Generalife gardens of the Alhambra in Granada, she began her first garden notebook, igniting a fascination with gardens and the plant world. This passion led her to explore remarkable gardens across France and abroad, as well as the Amazon jungle, incorporating their textures, colors, and forms into her creations.
In early 2020, Carine settled in Tonnay-Charente, where she established her current studio. Here, she channels her emotions into her art and continues to evolve her practice. Recently, she launched a new series of paintings, "Made in Japan," which combines her interest in old postcards with the inspiration drawn from her travels.
