Music and travel led Blew to photography. The Blues took him to his roots in the states of Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, North Florida between 2002 and 2009. During the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. (2007), he bought a digital camera used to keep the beauty and danger of this mythical city, one epicenter of African American music - Among artists & gentlefolks of this area, he briefly met Ernest Withers, who disappeared that same year, a photographer, close to Martin Luther King, historic witness of the Segregationist South.
The vivid colors of the South exhilarating ... Blew crosses the Mississippi (including Clarksdale) to reach another city flamboyant and mixed: New Orleans,LA. So many dazzling colors - such as those typical multicolored signs -, artists and top-to-color in the day & nightlight increase his inspiration. Blew unfolds the symbols of a certain America, and formed his vision of a superpowership, much admired as criticism, but of course, much damaged. He focuses on areas outside the norm, especially those gaps that arise as downtime. In this case, Raymond Depardon and David Lynch offered him a large view on the open topic to abstraction of reality.
After staying almost a year and a half in the United States between 2002 and 2009, he produced images, music and texts from new experiences and experimentations. When coming back in Nantes in May'09, Blew meets an expressionist figurative painter, Elizaveta Vodyanova, raised in Russia (Moscow-Crimea). They decide to partner in order to present a joint exhibition bringing together photos, paintings and writings on the theme of America and entitled "Signs". They performed twice in 2010 (see archives exhibitions).
By meeting more painters, sculptors and photographers in the last two years, Blew's desire of "writing", "drawing" and "painting" with the light is here again. It reminds him his childhood creative times like when he was making up his own stickers (very graphic & geometric). Blew is thinking about the use and development of digital photography then experimenting with ideas of shots just as he's experiencing his harmonica playing and vocals for ten years, with all the freedom and naivety it needs. He's never been in a photography or music school, he doesn't have that much tool… Blew is learning from accidents and unusual techniques (movement), playing with the shutter, experiencing long pause time.
Lights, movements, speed, day, night, colors are the matters of his photographic creativity. Between forms, lines, perspective and light he's looking for connectivity in visual modes.
Blew seeks unity following the vibration mode. He wants to meet or assemble sound and light waves - the ground and the sky - he is using elements of reality and try to overcome them by taking all sources of light or its reflection, to reveal another world. You may find some stories in putting together some images…
Blew is a story teller by many ways he fou...
