Alexeï Aïgui is a film music composer. He is the author of more than 70 film soundtracks, notably for "La Vérité" by Hirokadzu Kore-Eda, "I am not your Negro" by Raoul Peck (Oscar-nominated, for which Alexei Aigui obtained the American Cinema Eye HonorsAwards nomination in 2017), “Chercher Hortense” by Pascal Bonitzer, Marina de Van and Kirill Serebrennikov.

He recently signed the soundtrack for the series “Exterminate other brutes” by Raoul Peck for the HBO channel.

It is through his experiences and collaboration in relation to alternative rock and free jazz that he founded the Ensemble 4'33'' in 1994. By its unclassifiable character and the originality of its programming, 4'33'' is considered by Russian critics as one of the most interesting musical projects of recent years.

As a violinist, Alexeï Aïgui tours with Pierre Bastien, singer Mina Agossi, German pianist and composer Dietmar Bonnen, Japanese violinist Keisuke Ohta and the group Emakio.

His music is performed by famous musicians: pianist Alexei Lubimov, Susanne Kessel, Alexei Goribol, violinist Tatiana Gridenko, Opus Posth ensemble, St.Petersburg Symphony Orchestra and many others.

His discography includes more than 20 albums distributed in France, Japan, Great Britain and Russia.

“His music is just as direct, simple, forceful as it is dreamy and mysterious, deep and complex, and, most of all, poetic” – Raoul Peck

“I’m overwhelmed by his vivacity, effortlessness, rhythm, and a sort of Russian humor that Alexei Aigui’s music conveys” – Pascal Bonitzer

“Alexei Aigui's score drives things forward” – Variety on ‘Cherchez Hortense’ (dir. Pascal Bonitzer)
