Audrey Fléchet is a contemporary French sculptor born in 1977 in Paris. From a young age, she was captivated by the art of sculpture, discovering her passion during an internship with sculptor Renée Bossaert at the age of 17. This experience led her to dedicate herself fully to the craft of sculpture.
Audrey trained under several renowned masters in Paris, honing her skills in various techniques. She learned casting techniques under the guidance of Christophe Gottini at the National Museum of Natural History, where she also mastered the art of fine stone cutting with Eric Gonthier in the mineralogy gallery. Her interest in bronze casting, particularly using the lost-wax method, led her to apprentice with the Frédéric Ducros art foundry in Paris.
For over twenty-five years, Audrey has been developing and refining her style, which is figurative yet modern, emphasizing anatomical accuracy while heightening proportions to express emotion and character. Her work often explores the human condition, capturing the joys, sorrows, light, and shadows of humanity.
Since she was 19, Audrey has maintained her own studio, where she alternates between periods of intense creation and exhibitions. Her studio, located in the Berrichonne countryside, now includes an art foundry she built herself. Here, she designed and constructed a traditional charcoal melting furnace, which she uses to create her unique bronze sculptures.
Audrey's unusual creative process, involving direct hands-on casting, imbues each piece with a distinct life and history, born from the fire. This method not only adds a sense of peril and excitement to her work but also enhances its value, resulting in sculptures that are both enduring and delicate, reflecting her deep commitment to her art.
