Stephen Morris was born in Smethwick in the West Midlands of England. He attended Moseley Art School, Fircroft College, Marieborgs Folk High School in Sweden and the Universities of Cardiff and Leicester. He worked as a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Art and Design at Wolverhampton University for 17 years and has, for short periods of his life, worked as a social worker and as a journalist.
