The "Salpaad's daughters" painting has been thought of as a finishing one of the "Women on inconvenience" series re-thinking some of the Biblical female characters whose story is not so straightforward. At first, I was inspired by the fact that some young women living thousands of years ago in a very strict androcentric culture found the courage to raise their voices and stand for their rights to land ownership. So initially I thought the painting is about five strong girls with a bit of remonstrative spirit. However some days later after I started with it, the War in Ukraine burst out and the world got shaken up by the news of terrible war crimes like those in Bucha and other Ukrainian towns. I was one of those who has lost a sense of reality and could not but weep out of helpless anger for many weeks before I could physically continue with this painting. And when I finally did, my Salpaad's girls have unintentionally but inevitably undergone some changes in their appearances. You can see the painting as Salpaad's or Bucha's girls, but whoever they are, my position remains the same - if we dare to call ourselves civilized humans then we should all agree that being weaker and different does not give any right to another one to misuse their stronger standing.

Tatiana Potapenko, alias Artmoods TP, is a contemporary figurative artist from Finland. In her artistic journey, she has explored various genres, but her heart has always gravitated towards portraiture. Tatiana finds perpetual fascination in the intricacies of human nature, steadfast in her belief that she can perceive, share, and unveil the beauty inherent in all earthly emotions - be it joy or sorrow, passion or loathing, excitement or desperation, serenity or rage.
Her subjects are intentionally imperfect and imbalanced, yet consistently sincere and true to life. Real stories from friends, strangers in the news, characters from literature, and historical figures deeply move her, serving as wellsprings of inspiration. Tatiana meticulously interprets these narratives through the lens of her own experiences and understanding, breathing life into them on canvas. In this transformative process, her paintings metamorphose into her own alter egos.
Central to her artistic philosophy are themes of profound human significance - relationships, life's purpose, beliefs, religion, parenthood, and death - which serve as the driving forces behind her compelling figurative compositions. Her preferred mediums, acrylics and oils, are skillfully wielded to create emotionally charged works on canvas or wood. She has a penchant for larger sizes, monochrome palettes, and rougher surfaces, believing that these elements contribute to the atmospheric qualities she seeks to convey. Whether pre-texturing canvases or using unsmooth wooden panels as a base, her technical choices are deliberate and integral to her artistic expression.
For Tatiana Potapenko, evolution is a constant in an artist's journey - skills may be refined, techniques explored, and styles may shift, but the core essence remains unchanged. This immutable core, she believes, is what makes artists recognizable and authentic, enabling them to connect with their audiences on a profound level. Tatiana's art, with its rich emotional depth and thematic resonance, stands as a testament to the enduring power of creative authenticity.
