My name is Armand Robitaille, son of a carpenter-cabinetmaker, grandfather-builder of country churches, barns and ornamental sculptor.
In 1965, I; enters the School of traditional sculpture in the small village of St Jean Port Jolie, along the great St Lawrence River, recognized in Quebec as the capital of sculpture and crafts.
I sculpted from whatever material I found. So I developed my profession with what the material inspired me, wood, metal, bronze, aluminum, concrete and more.
I lived through different periods, designer furniture, art deco, monumental art.
My workshops have always been my refuges of tranquility, of erasure from the swirling world. My greatest joys, I owe them to my artistic discoveries.
Sculpting for me means rediscovering childhood by making imagined objects, which we bring to life with our hands and which we are the first to discover. Afterwards we always want to repeat the experience to discover a new vision of things.
Once we board this Art train, as I did, almost 60 years ago, it is no longer self who decides to go down. it's life.
