Compiuti gli studi professionali, lascia la Calabria, terra ricca di antiche testimonianze storiche e il suo mare che lo avevano ispirato sin dalla giovane età per sperimentare nuove ricerche artistiche frequentando le fonderie di Bari, Napoli e Roma. Nella capitale ha la fortuna di conoscere Pericle Fazzini dal quale riceve stima e ammirazione per le sue sculture sinuose e originali. Lavora in seguito presso i laboratori di marmo di Carrara, Pietrasanta e Massa presso Soldani Dei Manfredi. Durante questa esperienza matura nel Cersosimo la ricerca di una propria identità, di un proprio stile personale. Nasce l'arte ragionata: la jonicità dello stile. Sono di questo periodo le opere inneggianti alla vita, rinvenuti dalla memoria del passato.La sua jonicità è fisionomica, fatta di paesaggi e figure estrapolate dalla retroterra del Cersosimo, di morbidezza delle linee delle forme, e sopratutto di un nuovo umanesimo che è la sua forte e autentica proposta. La sua ricerca della continuità della linea acquista una dimensione infinita, protesa al riscatto della bellezza e dell'amore per la vita.
