Antonella's passion for art is innate, she began painting on canvas at the age of 9 and has never stopped since. Painting represents the expressive and emotional part of her being.
She grew up in a small Sicilian town, in Italy, where she met Sicilian painters who helped her take her first steps in drawing and painting; it was there that she began to have her first collective exhibitions, to participate in impromptu exhibitions and exhibit paintings in a gallery.
In her studies she followed a scientific path, interspersed with pictorial and graphic paths, then the need for comparison and knowledge led Antonella to the Academy of Fine Arts. There she met many emerging painters with whom she established a deep relationship of complicity both artistic and friendship. In that period she discovered and experimented with new techniques and trends.
A few years later she moved to Emilia Romagna and for a while she stopped exhibiting and participating in shows and events. But the passion and the need to paint led her to get back into the game and bring out her being.
The paintings range from the dreamlike representation of sensations to landscapes, from figures to still lifes. She depicts through the spatula and the brush images that recall views of the sea, beaches and places she has visited and lived, always inserting original elements. The warm colors of the landscapes, inspired by Sicily, mix with the figures that interpret moments of her life and the vision of what lives and surrounds her.
Antonella is a contemporary artist who draws her inspiration from great artists of the past, especially from Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Antonello da Messina, whose totally different styles lead her to look for a painting all her own, where she can represent the nuances of life, creating original paintings.
In her pictorial works every brush stroke comes from the heart, the hand acts before the rationality of thought, the painting is born from a deep self that reveals itself on canvas, the works materialize from deep emotions and sensations.
"In the artistic moment the external world does not exist, I alienate myself and become pure emotion. The paintings represent me, in that fleeting and unrepeatable moment".
