My life is divided between Paris and the seaside.
Paris is my professional career as a marketing and quality engineer in telecoms, following initial training at a business school.
The seaside is the attraction of color, changing light, tides, shapes and their absences since always, in France, in the Charentes Maritimes, Oléron in particular or Normandy and abroad through slices of life in San Francisco, in the bay of Ha Long or in Pondicherry...
I have practiced the visual arts, painting and sculpture, for more than 30 years.
I followed the course of drawing from live models at the Beaux-Arts Paris (ENSBA) for 3 years and developed a practice, in a collective, in the Yvelines for 20 years.
For the seascapes, I start from a sketch or a photo to capture the chromatic vibrations and I then work in the studio, in oil, knife, on linen canvas frames. I try to trigger a journey, an escape, a memory. Currently, I am interested in reflections, the movements of water, abstraction. How to render the verticality and the vanishing points? I am looking.
For the nudes, I start with a drawing, a charcoal sketch from a live model. I capture the curves, the shadows. I read the position in 3D and finally, as if it were a sculpture, I transpose it with the same technique, in oil. I like to translate from these women who pose, an atmosphere of serenity and perhaps of their meditation.
These quotes can reflect the state of mind of my creative approach.
"Perspective is a vanishing point for the eye, where the gaze gets lost, hoping to find something better, over there, further away..." Musée haut, musée bas by Jean-Michel Ribes
"For me it is not white. When I say for me, I mean objectively. Objectively it is not white. It has a white background with a whole painting in the grays... There is even red. We can say that it is very pale. If it were white, I would not like it" Art by Yasmina Reza
