Anne-Marie Callamard, born in 1943, lives and works in France. A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, where she studied under René Chancrin and Charles Machet, she also obtained a professorship in applied arts at the École Nationale Normale (ENNA) in Antony, Paris, in 1981. A former professor of applied arts, she is an artist recognized for her figurative and realist work.
Influenced by masters such as Dali, Balthus and Friedrich, Anne-Marie Callamard explores deeply introspective and emotional themes through a variety of techniques. Working in oil on canvas, acrylic on paper or board, pencil, watercolour and pastel, she carefully chooses each medium according to the subject and the story she wishes to tell. Her style combines realism and narrative, seeking to capture not only the appearance of reality, but also its mystery and strangeness.
Her works, often exhibited in salons and galleries in France, particularly in Lyon and Paris, are marked by a deep sensitivity. Member of the Lyon Academy of Painting and the Regional Association of Arts, she is also the founder of the association "Les 7 du 7e" in Lyon.
For Anne-Marie Callamard, painting is a way of transposing reality while leaving room for personal interpretation. Her works evoke both timelessness, wonder at life and the anxiety of time passing, while offering the viewer an opening to an intimate and narrative universe.
