Anne Capelle, better known as the artist Carlann, is a materialist-colorist who draws her inspiration from abstract expressionism and tragic painting. Born in 1971, she lives and works in Amiens, France. An artist passionate about matter and energy, Carlann develops an artistic practice marked by plastic and pictorial experiments where she explores the interaction between energy, matter, and digital.
She says that while she doesn’t consider herself a “born artist,” color has been at the heart of her life for as long as she can remember. Her artistic approach is influenced by the vision of the CoBrA movement, for whom a painting is not a simple construction of colors and lines, but a living entity. Carlann captures this essence through intense and vibrant works, imbued with a raw and primal force. Her creations embody a dynamic dialogue between forms, textures, and emotion, constantly pushing the boundaries between abstraction and materiality.
