Angela Bonavita is an Italian painter born in Naples. She graduated in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and later moved to Paris in 1996, where she earned a Master of Plastic Arts from the Faculty of Paris-8. In 2008, she expanded her skills by studying drawing and painting from live models at the Academy of Fine Arts in Seville.
Currently, Angela lives and works between Paris, Turin, and Naples. She directs the "Arts Brut" Painting Workshop at the Alternative Plein Ciel Center in Paris's 20th arrondissement.
Angela’s work blurs the boundaries between realism and expressionism, offering an alternative perspective on reality. Her art is deeply informed by an internal, energetic rhythm, characterized by a fast-paced, expressionist technique. She often employs a palette knife, creating textured, dynamic compositions where the virtual, expressive line conveys emotional tension and the vitality of human existence.
Her color palette ranges from warm tones of ochres and earths to the bright blues of the sky and lush greens of vegetation. Her vibrant colors leap off the canvas, engaging the viewer’s senses and anchoring her work in sensation. Angela’s style is a unique fusion of abstraction and figuration, balancing conceptual depth with sensuality, tactility, and visceral energy.
