"Nadija" (Hope) is a visceral outcry from the heart of a nation at war. Painted in a moment of pure emotional release, it wasn't until after completion that the artist realized — in the middle of the blazing chaos stands a female-like solar figure. She is symbolic. She endures everything — the fire, the pressure, the darkness.
Only later did the artist notice what appeared beside her: the shape and colors of the Russian flag, formed unconsciously — a ghost, an invader. And in the very center — a burning land. Ukraine. Our motherland, holding on through the storm, aflame yet alive.
This piece is pure emotion turned into color, texture, and raw energy. It was not made — it was survived.
The painting was created using oil paint and the impasto technique — with thick, expressive strokes — on a solid birch plywood panel, chosen for its strength and resonance. The wood itself becomes part of the story: enduring, natural, and alive beneath the fire.

Hello, my name is Andrii Korotkyi. I am an artist, a poet, a storyteller — but above all, I am someone who listens to silence between brushstrokes.
Painting is not just an act for me — it’s a need. I often look at my finished works and discover new meanings, new emotions, even entire stories hidden in the layers of paint. Each brushstroke holds a part of something unspoken — something that only time reveals.
I can spend hours in front of my own paintings, not out of pride, but from wonder. The way colors meet, the unexpected twists of texture, the dialogue between abstraction and symbolism — all this fascinates me.
Besides painting, I also write poetry and a book. And sometimes, I sing — because there are feelings that can’t be painted, but must be voiced.
I’m originally from Ukraine, but my art lives beyond borders. If my paintings resonate with you, perhaps you’ll feel a part of your own story in them.
