I always was impressed about the shapes, fragility and the transparency of poppy flowers. They are small flowers, usually becoming much more expressive in a big crowd. This is a view from a human being's perspective: up-down. Imagine a small creature in the fields, walking around at a summer day and looking up to these poppy flowers.[...]

Imagine a small creature in the fields, walking around at a summer day and looking up to these poppy flowers. How marvelous the poppy flowers would look when looking up to them. Looking at the poppy flowers with the eyes of a small creature, they must look like giants, glowing majestically in their marvelous red colour, swaying softly in a breeze.

My mostly acrylic paintings feature sceneries of landscapes, seascapes and floral motives of the real world in a figurative, realistic style, with a tendency for simplification. Being outside in nature is a great source of inspiration, and the photos taken during trips are the basics that I transform into paintings in my studio. Impressionists, in particular Claude Monet, but also Post-Impressionists are inspiring me most. The main element that continues to inspire me in impressionist painting is the effect of the sunlight on landscapes. I have a passion for the colour blue in all its possible facets and shades. It is a fundamental element of the composition in almost all of my paintings.

The other source of inspiration I found during my years of studying Japanese studies in Germany and Japan. I encountered the works of ukiyo-e masters and I particularly adore Hokusai's and Hiroshige's works for the clarity in which they both depict the landscapes. Both gave me the inspiration for creating my own edition of views on Japan. This is a mid-term project, which I have recently started and I have a strong determination to push it forward in the years to come. The first artwork out of this series in which I intend to use also different media, materials and techniques, including photos, which I digitally modify, is "silent cry".

The main objective of my artworks is to inspire the viewers to immerse into the light and atmosphere of a scenery, captured in a very special moment.

In April 2016, I won a Special Recognition Award for my painting "Sunset in Sa Rapita Bay" in the Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery's 6th Annual “Landscapes” Art Competition in the Painting & Other Category. The Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery's Competition comprised of 738 entries from 28 countries & 37 states.
