The series of paintings “A la Rus!” is a symbolic reflection of the Russian soul through the contrast of black and color. The dark external environment symbolizes the asceticism of religion, political upheavals, difficult war years, difficult modern realities, as well as the harsh climate - all this formed the image of a Russian person as closed, sullen, secretive.
This is the outer shell, a mask, behind which a rich inner world is hidden. External restraint is not indifference, but rather the result of complex historical experience and adaptation to difficult living conditions.
However, bright, pulsating colors inside remind us of the deep kindness, generosity and warmth of the Russian soul. The paintings use traditional Russian symbols: matryoshka, bear and kokoshnik, samovar, cockerel, horse, hut.
They form a bridge between the outer and inner worlds, emphasizing that behind the harsh facade lies a multifaceted personality.
This concept reflects the contradictory nature of the Russian character, where under the outer shell hides a broad Russian soul, ready for sympathy, help, compassion and generosity. Biography
Anastasiya Grik is a contemporary Russian artist. She discovered the art of interior painting in 2020, which inspired further development. It evolved into a fusion of all of Anastasiya's interests (painting, design, decoration). The artist uses a variety of approaches, although she typically opts for a blended one. Acrylic, plaster, gold leaf, alcohol ink, fabrics, and paper are the primary materials employed in creative endeavors.
Anastasiya Grik incorporates elements of femininity, harmony, naturalness, joy of life, and imagination while drawing inspiration from nature, music, cinema, and everyday life. Volume and texture are the fundamental elements that connect the majority of her works of art.
