Ana-Paula Bès, born in 1973, is a painter and designer who lives and works in France. Self-taught, she expresses herself through various mediums, including ink on paper and acrylic on canvas, in styles ranging from illustration to abstract. His artistic influences are rich and varied, including masters such as Gustav Klimt, Joan Mitchell, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Banksy, Jackson Pollock, Zao Wou-Ki, Hokusai, and Monet.
Ana-Paula followed initial technical training at the Lycée Technique du Vêtement in Paris, from 1990 to 1993, where she obtained a Bac F1 in automation, mechanics and pneumatics for the clothing industries, soft materials option. However, it was in 2008 that she truly reconnected with her passion for art by picking up her painting knives and brushes again. She began with figurative works in oil painting, before being carried away by a desire for freedom of expression which led her towards lyrical abstraction. Exploring various techniques, she worked with oil, dry pastel, felt-tip pens, acrylic, and even atypical materials such as metallic gold and New Caledonian red earth.
In 2014, Ana-Paula experimented with black ink sketches drawn with a knife on paper, a technique that quickly became one of her favorites. She brings characters and scenes to life, giving her works a unique narrative dimension. Her interest in Asian art also pushed her to integrate Japanese watercolors into her sketches, bringing a delicate and poetic touch to her creations.
Passionate about street art, Ana-Paula began adding color to her Indian ink sketches with Posca markers, blending elements from diverse cultures and styles to create vibrant, contemporary works. She refuses to confine herself to a single technique or style, preferring to explore various artistic universes according to her emotions and inspirations of the moment. For her, painting is the expression of her soul, a quest for harmony and perpetual perfection.
In 2020, she had the honor of exhibiting alongside the works of the Companions of Duty, an experience which reinforced her desire to perfect her mastery of color and artistic techniques. Ana-Paula Bès stands out for her ability to never lock herself into a single style, giving free rein to her imagination and her freedom of spirit to create lively and recognizable works. His use of metallic gold adds a unique luminosity and richness to his paintings, which never cease to amaze and inspire.
