Painting Pastel

Pastel is an instrument widely used in plastic arts. Taking the form of a colored plastic stick, it is composed of pigments, a filler (chalk or plaster) and a binder (gum arabic, oil, wax). We mainly distinguish fatty pastels (oil or wax), dry pastels, whether soft or hard. Pastel

Aline Belliard is a contemporary French artist known for her vibrant, nature-inspired paintings. Self-taught and passionate about both nature and art for as long as she can remember, it was during a transformative trip to Mauritius in 2017 that she realized her calling to blend these two passions through her art.

Before finding her true artistic path, Belliard spent years pursuing various diplomas and working in manual jobs, always searching for a way to align her work with her inner passions. The trip to Mauritius reignited her love for nature and the ocean, which had been dormant for years. The island’s beauty, rich culture, and tropical landscapes reminded her of her deep connection to the natural world.

During her time in Mauritius, she developed a profound bond with the island's wild flora and fauna, which became a continuous source of inspiration, serenity, and freedom. Inspired by the lush environment, Belliard decided to combine her artistic passion with her newfound appreciation for nature, turning her memories of the tropical paradise into a daily tribute to the environment.

Two years after returning to France, she began creating paintings that capture the beauty and energy of nature, using her artwork as an invitation to experience tropical jungles, exotic beaches, and the ocean’s turquoise waters. Through her vibrant depictions, she seeks to convey the calm and freedom these wild, colorful landscapes offer.

Belliard’s work is crafted using acrylic paint and pastels on natural wood, an eco-friendly material that serves both as her canvas and a source of inspiration. Her paintings have found homes in various countries, including France, Germany, the United States, and Canada, where they continue to captivate viewers with their vibrant portrayal of the natural world.
