Questa suggestiva rappresentazione di Medusa racchiude tutta la forza mitica della leggendaria Gorgone, con serpenti verdi intrecciati tra i capelli e occhi penetranti e velenosi. Un tempo bellissima fanciulla, fu maledetta da Atena e trasformata in una creatura dal potere distruttivo: il suo sguardo poteva pietrificare chiunque la incontrasse. Il suo destino si compì con la decapitazione per mano di Perseo, che, guidato dagli dei, usò uno scudo a specchio per evitarne il terribile potere. Tuttavia, anche la sua impresa fu segnata da inganni e interventi divini, trasformando la vittoria in un intreccio complesso di destino e ambizione.
