Alberto Saka was born in Polican, Albania, on June 28, 1965.
Saka's work has developed through the medium of painting, addressing the enduring legacy of Abstract Expressionism from various directions, addressing themes, the most important of which being materiality and temporality.
His recent work on these topics is situated in an art world in constant flux between late modernism and the latest developments of postmodernism. The artist's recent works are conceptually multivalent and exist simultaneously both "here" and "elsewhere" precisely in his use of a three-dimensional geometric materiality (the canvas that becomes a three-dimensional object) in a two-dimensional painting that transcends four-dimensional temporality.
Precisely because of its continuous transcendence of the various dimensions, this painting can be defined as transcendentalist.
But unlike the original nineteenth-century transcendentalists who sought connection with the divine and the truth of nature, Saka, using abstract painting at the turn of the last two centuries, goes beyond the observable representational figurative to find truth in the annulment of time, in a matter that becomes antimatter, and in continuous multidimensional passages.
