Childhood experiences with family, Jewish culture, and West Philadelphia’s ethnic diversity, continue to inspire my “In Your Face” content and style. My 45-year career in television news and documentary production offered many significant insights and experiences, which helped to shape my worldview, personal aesthetic, and artistic message.

My process is experimental and abstract.  I like to say, “I partner with the paint.”  When confronting a blank canvas, I prefer to have no image in mind and no attachment to any outcome.  The real excitement is watching an image pierce through the surface of the paint.  If I like what I see, I clarify and refine the image.  If not, I keep playing.

I work with both traditional paint on canvas and computer aided, digital media.  To create a more compelling and unique work of art I might go from traditional painting to digital and back again. It is not unusual to repeat this process several times.  Usually, but not always, the final painting is an ink jet print on film or canvas.
