It is a process of printing on art paper using very high-quality pigment inks and printed in very high definition. Its level of conservation is exceptional (more than 100 years), its quality, depth, and richness of nuances exceeds the classic photo print on Argentic paper.
Glossy finish
Apart from its exceptional thickness, the fiber paper is composed of an alpha-cellulose base without acid and it is covered with barium sulphate, and a microporous layer absorption enhancing pigments during printing. A pure white color, non-yellowing to light, this paper is especially designed for resistance and aging. It is used by major museums worldwide as it offers excellent resolution, rendering deep and dense colors.

La série N-rd renoue avec l'expression brute d'avant...
La complexité irréaliste des poses laisse place à une touche au pinceau plus expressive et gestuelle, utilisant également la coulure, la projection, le dripping.
La palette se restreint à la terre d'ombre naturelle, le carmin, le bleu clair, le noir et le blanc.
Les visages sont très contrastés, écartelés entre la terre, le ciel et le sang. Transpercés d'ombres noires ou de lumières blanches. L'équilibre est fragile entre les zones sombres et claires, brumeuses et marécageuses.
Alain Mathiot laisse alors parler son obsession pour la figure humaine et produit beaucoup de portraits sur papier ou sur bois.
Paysages à la fois schématiques et stylisés, désespérés et poignants, ces visages questionnent la figure humaine, véritables constats intuitifs de leur condition. S'enchaînent alors ces regards sans nom, sans identité, mais entièrement pétrifiés dans une urgence émotionnelle pure.
Quelque chose de particulièrement unique se dégage de ces visages piégés dans l'intention et pris sur le vif. Perçus entre deux regards, ou fixés jusqu'à l'épuisement de la rétine, la distorsion de ces faces présente quelque chose d'à la fois monstrueux et profondément humain, terriblement familier de ces angoisses délirantes, aux remords douloureux et à leur réalité mise à jour.
Comme autant de miroirs de l'inconscient qui laissent entrevoir ces paysages intérieurs enfuis par culpabilité, par peur ou par non-dit.
