My name is Olaniyi R. Akindiya, known as Akirash. I was born in Lagos – Nigeria, I am an Interdisciplinary Artist, my first degree is Bio-chem, I work for 2 years as a pharmacist and I find my call in 1991 where I went back to study fine and applied art at the Institute of Textile Art and Design in Lagos, After graduation I works as textile designer for Nigeria Textile mill in Lagos for 3 years, I am hungry for more knowledge, exposure, so since then I have travel length and breath in the world to contribute, seek for knowledge , show my works and in 2000 I form A non – government program artwithakirash in which I pick kids youths, teenage pregnancy girls away from the street help them find purpose in life, For the last 16 years, I have International Awards, Fellowships, Grants, I have been featured in more than 10 solo shows, many group exhibitions, over 30 performances, 20 artist residencies, i have been invited in many higher institutions has visiting Artist and has been written about in more than 60 articles and publications.
