Biography
Agnese Kurzemniece is a Latvian artist living and working in Riga. She studied painting at the Janis Rozentāls Riga Art High School and further honed her skills at the Graphics Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts. Additionally, she expanded her expertise in gravure techniques at Henrik Boeg's non-toxic workshop in Spain.
Agnese's recent work primarily focuses on acrylic painting, where she builds upon themes from her graphic art, particularly exploring the evolving nature of women and their world. Her paintings delve into the concept of refuge, using landscapes as a symbolic and conceptual motif.
Agnese has participated in numerous local and international group exhibitions and has held several solo shows. Her works are housed in prominent collections, including the Rothko Museum and various Latvian museums such as those in Ventspils, Ogre, and Preiļi. Her art is also part of private collections worldwide. Agnese is a member of the Latvian Artists' Union and the Latvian Graphics Chamber.

Painter Agnese Kurzemniece and the art gallery Bazar't invite you to the exhibition "NATURALLY", which can be viewed from January 30 to March 25 in the "THE BOTANIST", Brīvības street 37, Riga.Echoing the idea of THE BOTANIST's indoor gardens, the artist has chosen works for the exhibition that emphasize the search for connection and harmony in man's relationship with nature. Forest, nature, landscape, as well as - the image of a woman - these are two motifs that can be found in many of Agnese paintings and are also present in this exhibition. At the center of each painting is a girl, a portrait of a woman, expressing the author's personal feelings and point of view. On the other hand, the motifs of nature - the forest, the cycles of the seasons, changing moods, light and flowers - are not only a background, but an essential image through which the painter creates emotionally saturated stories. The paintings of the exhibition prove the artist's love for nature, the forest, inviting and inspiring the viewer to appreciate and protect this precious ecosystem of ours.
Agnese Kurzemniece studied painting at the Janis Rozentāls Riga Art High School, then continued to improve her knowledge and skills at the Graphics Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts and Henrik Boeg's non-toxic gravure workshop in Spain. Currently, she is a student at the Latvian Academy of Arts, Art History and Theory sub-field of Curator studies. She also works in the field of graphic design on a daily basis. In recent years, she has actively focused on acrylic painting, continuing and further developing in her paintings the themes she started in her graphic artworks, the center of which is the ever-changing woman and her world. Based on her study and research experience, she also examines the theme of asylum in her painting and focuses on the landscape as a conceptual image.The artist has gained experience in many local and international group exhibitions. She has had several personal exhibitions, her works are included in the collections of the Rothko Museum, Ventspils, Ogre and Preiļi Museums, as well as in private collections in many places around the world. Agnese is a member of the Latvian Artists' Union and the Latvian Graphics Chamber.

Viegls lietus joprojām vēl lija un lija, savas piles priežu zili zaļajām skujām godīgi dalot un neaizmirstot aplaistīt arī meža taciņu. Paslēpties no lietus zem koka, būtu bijis vieglāk, taču... kā bija, tā bija. Dažreiz, kad taksītim gribējas tā dvēseliski sasildīties, bet lai to panāktu, ko garšīgu apēst vajag un viņa privātajā krātuvītē ne vienmēr tāds gardums ilgi uzturēties spēja, nācās kļūt un kļūt pēkšņi... par paklausīgu suņuku... Atradās taksītis uz meža taciņas, nedaudz skuma, zinot, ka līdz vakaram, kad gardums būs dabūts un atkal dienas notikumus pa plauktiņiem salikt viņš varēs, kāds laiciņš vēl bija. Lūgts tika taksītim lielās mākslas vārdā stāvēt uz šīs taciņas nekustīgi un ilgi , lai viņa, samērā slaidais siluets meža ainavā "Pape seaside Forest" iemūžināts tiktu...)))

Ja nemaldos tā ir frau Zauriha, kas atbraukusi uz agrā pavasara mežu Bolzana(Štirlica) kunga laipnā pavadībā, lai uzlādētos ar skābekli šausmīgajai pilsētas dzīvei, visam gadam uzlādētos. Cik labi, ka pavasaris atnācis un putni visapkārt dzied. Pavasaris tā ir kā uzvara pār badu, ziemu un nāvi starp citu arī. Drīz frau Zauriha atradīs izdīgušu īpašu zālīti, kuras novārījums palīdz nieru kaitēm, bet par nožēlu ar šo atradumu savu ceļa biedru iepriecināt viņai neizdevās, Bolzana kunga nieres rūpes tā īpašniekam nesagādāja... Vēl tik daži skābekļa malki un jādodas būs atpakaļ uz pilsētu... taču varbūt maldos es un meiteni šo citā vārdā sauc, kā arī mežā viņa ir pavisam citu iemeslu dēļ...)))
If I am not mistaken, it is Frau Zauriha, who has come to the early spring forest in the kind company of Mr. Bolzan (Stirlitz), to recharge with oxygen for the terrible city life, to recharge for the whole year. How good that spring has come and the birds are singing all around. Spring is like a victory over hunger, winter and death, by the way. Soon Frau Zurich will find a special herb that has sprouted, the decoction of which helps with kidney ailments, but unfortunately she failed to please her travel companion with this find, Mr. Bolzan's kidney care did not provide its owner... Just a few more sips of oxygen and we will have to go back to the city.. . but maybe I'm mistaken and this girl is called by a different name, and she's in the forest for completely different reasons...)))

Kur gan palicis tas mopsis? Kāpēc vairāk neredz to? Taksītis pat... un iespējams tas notika pirmo reizi, lūdzās tikt pavadīts pastaigā tieši uz to pašu, jau gleznā "Pirms vētras'' attēloto parku. Tik ļoti tam gribējās satikt un varbūt pat sirsnīgi acīs skatoties atvainoties mopsim, kas kā toreiz viņam vēl likās, bez īpašas atļaujas zīmīti pie taksīša leģendārā koka bij atstājis. Šodien taksītis jau zināja, ka bija tas tikai un vienīgi itin smalks, bet pārpratums. Taksīša koks auga tur pat blakus, šūpoja zarus savus un it kā vieglā pārmetumā jautāja, vai tad tu mani tiešām neatpazini, mans draugs? Vēl ilgi taksītis stāvēja, skatījās tālumā, pat mēģināja dziļāk nāsīs pavasara gaisu ievilkt, brīžiem pat ausis stāvus cēla un gaidīja, gaidīja, gaidīja, taču mopsis tā arī neieradās. Mopsis, kā mēs jau no taksīša domām zinām palaidnis būdams, atčāpoja krietni vēlāk, kad debesis jau satumst sāka un par pamatu šādai kavēšanai šoreiz ne mopša palaidnība bija, bet saimnieces aizrautība ar seriālu noskatīšanos. Viņš ilgi burtoja burtu pēc burta, tam zīmīti atstāto, taču perfektas takšu valodas zināšanu trūkuma dēļ, ne visu viņš tai zīmītē saprata, taču mājās krietni labākā noskaņojumā mopsis tad devās un kā viņa saimniecei likās, dažus ceļa posmus pat itin kā vieglā riksī tas veica...)))
Where has that pug gone? Why don't you see it anymore? The taxi driver even... and this may have happened for the first time, asked to be accompanied for a walk to the same park already depicted in the painting "Before the storm". He wanted so much to meet and maybe even sincerely look into the eyes and apologize to the pug, who as at that time still it seemed that he had left the note by the taxi's legendary tree. Today, the taxi driver knew that it was just a misunderstanding. The taxi's tree was growing right there, waving its branches and asking if you You really didn't recognize me, my friend? The taxi stood for a long time, looking into the distance, even trying to draw in the spring air deeper into its nostrils, and sometimes it even raised its ears and waited, waited, waited, but the pug never came, as we already know from the taxi's thoughts being a prankster, he came back much later, when the sky was already getting dark, and the reason for such a delay this time was not the pug's prank, but the mistress's passion for watching the series he understood everything in that note, but the pug went home in a much better mood and, according to his owner, he even covered some sections of the road like a light trot...)))

Vētra tuvojās, taču kaut kāds mopsis savai vakara procedūrai izvēlējās taksīša jau sen, sen iepazītu kociņu... palaidnis tāds, nodomāja taksis, bet būdams suņuks pieklājīgs, nolēma tomēr nogaidīt... Gaidīt bija patīkami, saimniece nesteidzināja, viegls vējiņš pūta degunā un starp atnestajām smakām bija arī ļoti pazīstamas. Drīz vakariņas un klausoties lietu, kas rībinās loga rūtis, taksītis vēl pirms miega pārdomās šīs dienas notikumus, saliks visu pa plauktiņiem un nez kāpēc liekas man, ka piedos viņš mopsim šodienas palaidnību, jo kociņš, kur zīmīti šovakar atstāja mopsis, kā izrādās bija pavisam cits...)))
The storm was approaching, but some pug chose a stick that the dachshund had known for a long, long time for his evening procedure... such a prankster, thought the dachshund, but being a polite dog, he decided to wait anyway... It was pleasant to wait, the owner was in no hurry, a light breeze blew in his nose and among the smells brought were also very familiar ones. Dinner is coming soon and while listening to the rain pattering on the window panes, the cabbie will think about the day's events before going to sleep, put everything on the shelves, and for some reason I think he will forgive the pug for today's prank, because the stick where the pug left the note tonight, as it turns out, was completely other...)))
