In ancient Rome, the lotus flower was considered the flower of Apollo.
Among the Greeks, this flower was considered the flower of love of Zeus and Hera.
In Egypt, the lotus was associated with ideas about fertility and productive power, about death and resurrection.
In China, the lotus flower was revered as a sacred plant, even before the spread of Buddhism.
In India, a lotus flower is still depicted on the coat of arms.
Indeed, the significance of the lotus in all religions and cultures is only positive. This is not surprising, because the flower itself is incredibly beautiful and mysterious.

My name is Maria. I was born in Moscow and lived there until I moved to live in Istanbul, Turkey. a few years ago.
My academic background is not related to art or design, my job involved dealing with personnel. It happened five years ago when my life made a U-turn. I quit and started to paint botanic watercolor, which eventually became the love of my life.
Nature is what inspires my art. My passion is to depict the beauty of flowers, birds, plants in watercolor.
At present I am a member of Russian botanic association. My personal exhibition was held in Istanbul in October, 2018.
