Biography
Vincent Ochs is a contemporary French sculptor. Ochs sculpts serpentine from Zimbabwe in direct carving listening to the stone which imposes its own form. The sculptor's gesture is between violence and meticulousness, he removes material to find the imagined form.
Ochs is inspired by rough stone to sculpt in the mass, and he’s looking for the purest form that the original block contained, to reveal what it can have of air and dynamics. He sculpts fragile shapes in a particularly dense and resistant material.
