ALTO est un artiste peintre français né en 1965 et vivant à Toulouse.
Dès son plus jeune âge, il baigne dans un univers artistique, avec une mère peintre à ses heures perdues, et un père photographe amateur.
Très tôt, sa mère l’initie aux techniques de la peinture à l’huile… puis vers 14 ans, il participe à ses premiers ateliers avec des dessinateurs de BD. A l’époque il se passionne par le dessin et notamment par les comics américain.
Cela le conduit naturellement, quelques années plus tard, à intégrer l’école des Beaux arts. C’est là qu’il commence un travail sur le geste. L’objectif étant de retrouver son geste propre et unique souvent perdu et perverti par l’afflux d’image qu’on consomme tous les jours.
Il approfondit également ses connaissances sur la couleur.
S’en suit plusieurs années à l’école d’architecture très riches en échanges et débats autour de l’art et de son propre travail. Il prend l’habitude de présenter ses travaux, de les soumettre au regard des autres et de la critique… et de se nourrir de ces échanges pour grandir et aller plus loin dans son travail.
Il évolue par la suite dans les arts visuels et la musique, notamment durant de longues années en tant que web designer indépendant.
Aujourd’hui, il reprend les pinceaux… pour mener des projets beaucoup plus personnels.
Son style que l’on peut définir comme figuratif abstrait prend essence dans sa perpétuelle recherche sur le geste.
Ce geste juste et personnel qui seul peut capter l’oeil du spectateur et le transporter dans un voyage intérieur ou violence et quiétude ne font plus qu’un.
