Crée en 2012, le collectif Monkey Bird Crew (MBC) est formé de deux artistes, Louis et Edouard, qui se sont rencontrés sur les bancs de l'Ecole d'Art Visuel Créasud de Bordeaux : Témor, grapheur, passionné de design et Blow, graphiste, amateur d'illustrations.
Les deux plasticiens mettent en scène deux animaux totems, dans des architectures métaphysiques, entre principes anthropiques et éthologiques. " On veut proposer une lecture littéraire de l'image ! ». Pochoiristes reconnus pour leur finesse graphique, ils travaillent des matrices entièrement réalisées à la main. S'inspirant des traités de géométrie, de mécanique, de cosmologie ou encore d'astronomie, ils déclinent leur travail sur de multiples médiums et supports de récupération.
« Monkey Bird, c'est l'ensemble d'une alchimie de nos deux pensées, un lien de l'esprit à la matière. C'est toujours une raillerie comme au début, avec la technique affinée aujourd'hui". C'est ainsi que Blow, est incarné par l’oiseau de nuit discret, adepte de la poésie et des philosophies artistiques. Et Témor, à l'instar du singe, est un perfectionniste débrouillard liant humour et esprit.
Non sans une certaine obsession, ils réintroduisent une présence animale sur les murs des villes. Ces animaux, similaires à ceux présents dans les fables, nous renvoient malicieusement à nos préoccupations humaines, à mi-chemin entre désir d'élévation, d'envies matérielles, et de liberté, dont l'homme ne peut s'affranchir.
Alimentant désormais le paysage urbain, ils investissent de leurs fables murales Paris, où ils vivent, Lille, Bordeaux notamment, mais aussi Amsterdam, New Delhi et plusieurs villes du Mexique.
