1947'de İspanya'da doğan Albert Cruells, erken yaşamı doğal dünya ve ailesinin yaratıcı etkisiyle şekillenen çağdaş bir sanatçıdır; babası piyano öğretmeni, annesi ise yazardı. Sanatsal yolculuğu alışılmadık derecede erken başladı ve ilk sergisini yedi yaşındayken büyükbabasının kasap dükkanında açtı.
Cruells, on sekiz yaşındayken Mimarlık okumak için Barselona'ya taşındı ve şehrin modern sanat sahnesine kendini kaptırdı. Ayrıca, gelişen çalışmalarını sık sık sergilediği Cadaqués'ten de ilham aldı. Sanatı uluslararası alanda tanındı ve ilk kitabının yayınlanmasına yol açtı.
