He was born in Livorno in 1963“son” of the Latin chromatic and formal codes, but also a contemporary master of the evocative Livorno marinas, he exhibits his fresh and tumultuous seas, in the land of Tuscan geothermal energy. He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and is engaged in design and pictorial activities.Urzi's sea is a solitary and intentional subject, with unstable moods, decisive action, absolute mystery, an identity that cannot be contaminated.In the wake of Stefano Urzi's brush, another outcome for the tradition of Livorno. Still inspired yes to that spectacular coastline that inevitably tinges daily city life with "artistic reasons", Urzi thematizes it to the extreme. The pruning of "earthly" and anthropological contaminations recalls their immensity in the large formats of his canvases, the freshness in the hyperrealism of the detail of infinite drops of water, and the reference to another eternal giant: the mountain.A dispute between element and form, studied in the moment of manifestation of spectacular and unstoppable waves, sometimes threatening, directed without delay, slowly or with explosive force, towards the spectator. Assaults however poetic in marines from the genre itself transformed. The sea, like the human soul, thus reveals its fluctuating moments of calm, transformation, storm, in co-presence. In a figurative form with an informal impetus, which teaches us to experience the enigmatic form of great change up close.
