Sophie studied graphic design in Penninghen, in Paris. She discovers wire's work and creates her first works. After devoting a major part of her career to graphic design and illustration for press and edition, it's her arrival to Mexico that inspired her to return to sculptures.
Her sculptures are delicate and meticulous, floating in space without invading it. She draws on three-dimensional wire, weaves, knots, twists the threads to create a sculpture that is both solid and light, almost transparent. It is this duality between the hard wire, cold, and the lightness of this one which is of particular interest to her. She explores the relationship between space and material, volume and emptiness.
By sculpting animals, Sophie not only seeks to reproduce the animal but to convey an emotion, a feeling, to capture movement, to put simplicity and beauty at the center of her works. Nature is the source of all art!
