Sophie Artinian
Passionate about drawing since her first pencils, Sophie then studied graphic arts and visual communication at the Axe Sud school in Marseille, where she developed and matured her art, the characters and style of which are inspired by children's stories.
Having first approached publishing houses as an illustrator, the artist then tried her hand at creating small paintings, which she would exhibit for the first time.
The year 2015 marked a change in Sophie's artistic career: she began a new series of non-figurative oil paintings. The work of color, material and composition are predominant.
The artist is now continuing her contemporary revisitation of pointillism by creating a series of portraits. In these new paintings, the colours are first worked separately and then applied successively to the support one after the other, reminiscent of the screen printing method. Little by little the work takes shape, as does this effect of material and relief.
Very sensitive to the work of impressionist painters, she particularly appreciates their use of light and colour, as well as their pictorial touch.
Finally, after having lived in Marseille, Sophie has now put down her brushes in Auvergne, drawing her inspiration from the land of volcanoes.
