Titled "The Women," this painting can be seen as a profound homage to the multifaceted nature of womanhood. The use of abstract elements mirrors the complexity and depth of a woman’s experiences—her joys, struggles, and triumphs. The fluid lines and contrasting tones could signify the interplay of strength and vulnerability, reflecting the resilience required to face life's challenges. The darker hues may represent the sacrifices and hardship women endure, while the brighter, vibrant strokes are symbolic of their unwavering hope, creativity, and capacity to nurture. The green, often associated with growth, may hint at renewal and empowerment, suggesting the evolving roles of women in society. Ultimately, "The Women" invites the viewer to explore these layers and consider the collective and individual stories that shape the identity of women across cultures and generations. It is both a celebration and an introspection, calling us to acknowledge and honor the diverse narratives encapsulated in this painting.
Upon closer inspection of the painting, one might discern abstract forms that resemble human or feminine silhouettes. These shapes may be subtly integrated within the flow of the composition, their contours blending harmoniously with the surrounding elements. Curved lines suggestive of shoulders, faces, or flowing garments evoke the essence of women without overt realism. These figures might appear to merge with the colors and textures, symbolizing unity or the interconnectedness of shared experiences. The ambiguity encourages viewers to interpret the shapes through their own perspective, adding a sense of universality to the artwork's narrative.
The narrative behind the artwork resonates deeply with the painter's personal journey. The left side, dominated by darker tones and resembling the contour of a human face, symbolizes the rigid and corporate path as a CEO and board member in the male-dominated tech industry. It conveys the challenges and structure of that professional world. Moving toward the center, the composition transitions to abstract shapes that suggest a female form, rendered in vibrant oranges and yellows. This central imagery represents a woman undergoing transformation, self-discovery, and growth—a pivotal phase marked by introspection and change. On the right side, the artwork evolves into a depiction of freedom and connection. The lighter hues and organic forms evoke the painter's move to the countryside, the serene beauty of the Serra da Estrela mountains, and a profound connection to nature. This shift signifies a liberation into the artistic realm, a new chapter defined by creativity, tranquility, and the pursuit of a freer existence.

As a self-taught, emergent artist, my work is a reflection of both my personal and professional journey—an evolution from a trailblazing CEO and Entrepreneur in the tech industry to a liberated creative spirit in the rural mountains of Portugal. My art, deeply rooted in abstraction, celebrates the complexity of transformation, female empowerment, and the profound beauty of life’s transitions. Through vibrant colors, bold compositions, and textured layers, I create a visual language that invites both emotional connection and intellectual exploration.
I view abstract painting as a powerful form of expression, where creativity flows freely and without boundaries. My approach is fluid, constantly evolving, and never bound by a single formula. Much like leadership, which requires the courage to adapt and take risks, my art thrives on unpredictability, allowing the materials and organic forms to speak their own language. The absence of a fixed style mirrors my belief that, just like leadership, art should evolve with the times—embracing new techniques, emotions, and energies to truly capture the complexities of the human experience.
In my work, the dynamic interplay of bold, vibrant colors and textures is a reflection of strength and resilience, particularly the resilience of women navigating challenging environments, whether in the boardroom or in life. I use particularly large canvases and paint on the floor, as the perspective from this angle is entirely different, allowing for a deeper connection to the work. Blue hues, in various shades, dominate my canvas—symbolizing depth, calm, and infinite possibilities. These shades of blue represent both the soothing force of inner strength and the boundless potential that comes from embracing change and uncertainty. The layers of blue, ever-shifting, echo the fluidity of life itself and the unwavering spirit that drives one forward.
I work primarily with cotton and linen, two raw materials that resonate deeply with me as symbols of authenticity, resilience, and vulnerability—qualities that embody female leadership. These materials allow me to explore the tactile, organic nature of life’s transitions. My use of fabric and natural textures reflects the grounding energy of nature, drawing inspiration from my surroundings in the rural mountains of Serra da Estrela. Through these materials, I express the profound depth of emotion and the beauty that emerges when we embrace imperfection and change.
Art, for me, is a powerful tool for transformation and expression. After spending over three decades in the corporate world, I turned to art not as an escape, but as a means of deeper connection, self-expression, and inspiration.
