Inspired by the abundant precious gemstones that can be found in my home-country Sri Lanka, I created these six wall-sculptures. "Levitating Sapphire" is part of the Gemstone Collection. Inspired by the abundant precious gemstones that can be found in my home-country Sri Lanka, I created these six wall-sculptures. "Levitating Sapphire" is part of the Gemstone Collection. The shapes were created by cutting, folding, and molding the finest Arches watercolor paper, then painting with the finest Winsor Newton Gouache paint. The levitating interlocking arabesque shapes in the middle are the focus of the piece. The "Levitating Sapphire" wall sculpture is mounted on a black canvas, and then framed into a black floater frame. Framed Dimensions: 13.5" x 13.5" x 3.5".

Shyami Codippily was born in Sri Lanka, and moved to the USA with her family.  She has been an artist since she was three years old, painting in oil, watercolors, and gouache; sculpting in marble; and creating various 2-d and 3-d works with various other materials. She uses her art as an avenue to communicate her experiences with nature.  She has received numerous National and International awards throughout her artistic career.
Shyami is also the author, artist, and producer of three acclaimed books on Howard County, Maryland: Farms Never To Be Forgotten, Churches Never To Be Forgotten, and Manors Never To Be Forgotten.
