Group Exhibition: Colour of Life

Bangladeshi and Indian artists have addressed diverse themes through artworks displayed in a week-long group art exhibition titled Colour of Life ongoing at Qrius Gallery at Banani in the capital.
The exhibition is featuring 80 artworks by 13 Bangladeshi and two Indian artists, who have portrayed nature, women, Bauls, Gautam Buddha, national minority communities, rivers and others.
Bangladeshi artists, namely Rokeya Sultana, Biplab Biprodas, Farzana Yeasmin, Farisa Mahmud, Joydev Bala, Limia Dewan, Masudur Rahman, Prohlad Karmaker, Pradyut Das, Rasel Rana, S M Raqibul Hassan, Subrata Ghosh, Sigma Haque Angkan, Uma Mandal and Zebun Nahar Nayeem and Indian artists, namely Subrata Ghosh and Joydev Bala have displayed their works in the exhibition.
Renowned artist Rokeya Sultana inaugurated the exhibition on October 15. Ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh Anne Gerard Van Leeuwen, renowned designer Chondra Shekhor Shaha, CEO and managing director of Meghna Bank Ltd Sohail RK Hussain and others were present at the inaugural ceremony.
Among the displayed artworks, Farzana Yeasmin’s acrylic painting titled Emotion of Nature-1 depicts the relationship between nature and women.
Sculptor Sigma Haque Angkan has portrayed women, flora and fauna and others through ten brass sculptures in the exhibition.
Masudur Rahman has drawn celestial objects resembling human figures.
‘To me, the process of creating an artwork is a cosmic journey and the lines on a canvas are my spaceships. I want to feel the universe through my art,’ said Masudur Rahman.
He has displayed eight drawings created with charcoal and acrylic. His charcoal drawing titled The Archer shows an abstract human figure resembling an archer preparing to nock an arrow.
Subrata Ghosh is displaying portraits of popular Bangladeshi actors, namely Chanchal Chowdhury, Fazlur Rahman Babu and the late theatre activist Mahidul Islam.
The exhibition, which has been curated and organised by Artist Zebun Nahaer Nayeem, will end today.
