I chose oil paint for its rich texture and its ability to capture the depth of light and shadow, which was critical for conveying the shimmering effect on the silver candlestick and the subtle presence of the extinguished wick. The hardboard provides a sturdy base, allowing brushstrokes to be expressive and palpable.
