Fragment of bliss (2017) Скульптура - Scott Wilkes

" A fragment of bliss " is a steel sculpture by Scott Wilkes made from welding somewhere around 1000 small steel rods together. This piece in not cast and is the original nor will there be any casts or reproductions. The piece is mounted on a steel plate so it can stand free and is balanced to that it won't topple over . Its been ground smooth and sealed so it won't rust. It is not designed to be an outdoor piece for the elements could cause it issue. Kept indoors it should be just fine.

To me the artist this piece is a representation of a sultry thought, a sexy memory or desire. Incomplete in nature for its just a fragment of bliss. I saw this piece through my own memories, but I also saw how it could be more than just my memory ,but a thought, a dream, a desire or a fantasy. I stood it up in a way that doesn't look like it could be. Standing tall on a tiny point of its mass. I wanted to make it seem a bit unreal, yet real and fantasy like all at the same time. Dali is one of my idols , I guess in some ways that the floating feeling came from my love of his work.
