SCALY
Scaly lives high in the mountains of North Ardèche, a few kilometers away from The Rhône Valley in the South East of France
The region well worth the visit and the artist invites us to take an unexpected journey.
In a age where Health is king, she dares to put on canvas, a disturbing and acerbic look at our world, through, her portraits of smoking women.
Women as they are but whom nobody considers because they are too much: too beautiful, too strong, too sure of themselves, too male as would say those small-minded men, uncertain of their own value, displeasing those sad men of good nature who vote for a soft feminism, and who reduce feminism to sexuality.
Scaly’s women are astonishing, hair-rising and impressive
They are free, rebellious, impertinent, and intractable, they exude a feminity which affects the body and soul.
It shows mothers bearing scars of a rich life, sometimes bitter, often passionate.
These women invite us for a glass, chain-smoking cigarette after cigarette, reflecting back to us our lives, pain and enjoyment. They exude certain sensuality, a bewitching sexuality. They will look at you in the eyes, whispering with a cigarette between their lips, that life can be crazy, impertinent and beautiful.
Scaly’s portraits show us the insolence and strength of these liberated women
