PROFILE

After finishing a four years study at Art school in 1999, I did a three year study in animation-film in Dakar until 2001. From 2001 I worked at several projects for the Senegalese animation-studio, Pictoon, for one year. One project was for example Kabongo, an animation TV-series. In the autumn 2002 I went to Norway on a project in cooperation with Fredskorpset for one year. There I worked and studied web-design at Mediefabrikken, witch is a combined school and film-producer.

In 1999 I stared an association, called Art Express, together with five other artists. Our aim is to organise work-shops and exhibitions for young artists from all over the world.

In 2003 and 2004 I have had several projects in Dakar. At the moment I live and work in Oslo.

PROJECTS

May 2004
Participating at the biennale, Dak’Art, together with five other artists from France and Senegal. Dak’Art is one of the biggest events for contemporary art in Africa.

April 2004
Participating in a work-shop for animation-film at the Ivory-Coast together with young African artists from several countries.

December 2003
Arranging the exhibition Des Marches Urbaines together with my association Art Express. The exhibition was held in Space Vema in Dakar, Senegal, showing both paintings, installations and video-productions.

June 2003
Solo exhibition in Oslo, Norway, at S.Jacobsen Arkitekter. The exhibition was a result of one year stay as a exchange-student in Norway.

June 2003
Exhibition at the Centrum Beeldende Kunst Emmen in Netherland together with other African artists, living and working in Europe.

March 2003
Solo exhibition in Amsterdam, Netherland, at the Pols Potten Gallery, showing the gallerists private collection of some of my big-format paintings, and also some video-productions.

December 2002
Exhibition at the Gallery Aude Minat in Paris, France, together with artists from several other countries.

May 2002
Participating at the Biennal, Dak’Art, at the Gallery Arte together with another young, Senegalese artist.

February 2002
My organisation, Art Express, arranging an exhibition with more than 30 other young, Senegalese artists at the IFAN Museum in Dakar, Senegal.

Year 2001
Had several exhibitions in galleries in France, Belgium and Senegal and also participating in different film-festivals.

Year 2000
Selected to join the exhibition for young artists at the Biennale, Dak’Art in Senegal.

Rien d’autre que la copie conforme de ton voisin.
La nature humaine est toujours à la source de ma démarche artistique. Je cherche à saisir et à comprendre l’être humain dans sa relation avec lui-même et avec ce qui l’entoure. Le concept de la résilience, avec les notions de rêve et d’imaginaire qui l’accompagnent, s’est particulièrement ancré dans mes projets.
