Color lithograph plate-signed by Salvador Dali from the edition of 4 980 published by Armand & Georges Israel in 1983.

This edition was printed during the lifetime of Salvador Dali and with his consent. Each lithograph was authorized, supervised and validated by Salvador Dali and by the SPADEM, the copyright protection and collection society formed by visual artists and their heirs in France.

Artwork entirely made in France: from the production of the Vélin d’Arches paper in Arches in the Vosges department, to the traditional lithographic printing process, one drawing for each different color, one color per press run. Each lithograph was printed at Claude Jobin’s workshop in Paris, dimensions 56,5 cm x 36,5 cm, and features the copyright of the SPADEM and the dry stamp of the publishers Armand & Georges Israel.

Salvador Dali est né le 11 mai 1904 à Figueres, en Espagne. Il fut l'un des grands excentriques de son époque, célèbre pour ses manières originales de promouvoir son art. Il a fait preuve de talent dès sa petite enfance. Il prend des cours à dix ans et expose ses œuvres à quatorze ans. Il a créé une auto-promotion consciente, dont le symbole reste encore aujourd'hui sa moustache caractéristiquement bouclée, qu'il enveloppait lorsqu'il posait pour des photos. Il n'a pas complété d'études artistiques supérieures parce qu'il se croyait plus compétent dans les domaines artistiques que les professeurs qui l'ont examiné. Deux artistes ont particulièrement marqué son œuvre, à savoir Joan Miro et Pablo Picasso. Cependant, il est accusé d'avidité et de soutien au fascisme, ce qui n'est pas conforme au milieu des surréalistes parisiens. Son travail gagnait systématiquement en popularité depuis les années 1930, si bien qu'en 1974 il put même ouvrir son propre musée dans sa ville natale de Figueres. Il a non seulement peint, mais aussi photographié, conçu, sculpté et essayé de jouer dans des films. Il est décédé d'une insuffisance cardiaque le 23 janvier 1989 à Figueres.
