Brolgas together with the Sarus crane are Australia's only cranes. They are large and majestic yet delicate birds that mate for life and have inspiring "dances" to display to each other. This one had his wings clipped because he is extinct in the ACT and was here for Aviculture purposes at a local nature reserve, he has since been moved to a zoo but with the ability to paint his feathers full one can imagine the beauty of these birds of a time passed, their dances and poses reflected in the waters that in turn reflect in their white-light grey feathers with red dashes on their heads and white cheeks. It must have been a wonderful sight to see them in numbers and it is nice knowing that they survive elsewhere in Australia This artwork is framed in a natural floating frame that can be seen in my first RAW video footage of our newly built art Gallery in Canberra online.

Susan was born in Rhodesia, educated in South Africa at Groote Schuur Hospital where she worked for 20 years and now lives in Australia. Having rewritten her medical exams with Distinction in 2011 in Australia she was saddened when the cervical cancer Pap screening was deemed not cost effective in 2017 in Australia and palliative hospitals were built instead. It was then that she followed her second dream which had started in High School with the final art prize in 1985 and started her own art practice in Canberra. Susan is absolutely loving the art world now for she has discovered Art is the universal language that heals and connects people in this world. Susan still believes that prevention of cancer and early diagnosis is a worthwhile cause and is glad she was able to help others and glad that the Australian radiologists were spared the cost cuts of 2017 so they were able to help her live as well but she now welcomes you to share her journey forward in the Arts.
