In the drawing before us, the artist performs a bold synaesthetic experiment: mechanics merge with watercolor, technical rigor with the emotion of the pictorial gesture. It is a composition that is placed on an impossible axis between the Renaissance project and the poetic engineering of a dreamlike steampunk world.
Here the watercolor is not a simple filler: it is flesh and breath. The warm ochre of the saddle, as if consumed by the sun and time, tells us of the thousands of kilometers traveled. The pearly gray shades of the engine suggest not only metal, but memory. As if the oil and smoke had left an emotional imprint on the paper.
The background, left deliberately rough, made of coffee, pale pink with stains that seem due to time or rust, recalls a parchment forgotten in an invention laboratory. It is not a simple neutral background: it is the mental space of the machine, its static dream.
