About this piece: The spatula looks on, spellbound, as the autoanimated ancient relic generates beautiful music. The relic mask has assembled itself using the following: a few scraps of cloth, thread, used bricks, glue, gloves, and some sort of stuffing. The relic has just begun to live, but an ominous presence torments him.

Recently, I began experimenting with acrylics. I have no formal training as an artist. I admire the works of Dali, Max Ernst, Dorothea Tanning, Giorgio De Chirico, and Rene Magritte, among others.
Usually, I paint it first; then think about what it all means to me. I think my current fascination with creation and re-birth is somehow connected to an increasing awareness of my own mortality. African masks interest me, and their beautiful/grotesque features often appear in my paintings.
