Vanitas is a recurring subject of my practice, because I am obsessed with the perfect example of life and death given beautifully by flowers. Every time that I start a new composition I am excited and at the same time I am willing to include some flowers that I already picked. Fields of digital blossoms are in the world wide web to be found and I like to give a second life to some of the ones I already put in my basket once. Sometimes I personally photograph them in the physical world and then I cut them with my digital cutter.
Glitching is a method to visualize a different balance and movement to the composition but also a metaphorical link to the unexpected results in life. The idea of provoking a malfunction in colors and alignment is inspired by the kintsugi technique where the wabi-sabi vision of beauty merge with the idea of memento mori. The connection with painter Cy Twombly can be found in the attempt of translation of flowers.
