WELCOME TO MY ART WEBSITE

I AM ACCEPTING OFFERE FOR MY PAINTINGS.

PREFERENCE IS FOR AN INDIVIDULE OR ORGANIZATION FROM WASHINGTON,D.C. WHO WOULD HOUSE "THE CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL" IN A PUBLIC VENUE.

I consider my paintings as a Collection, and have intended that they should be exhibited together, since I began painting 35 years ago. They were not painted to sell individually. The product of my work is the environment they create when exhibited as a whole. Therefore, I am planning a 35-Year Retrospective Show for later this year, containing 135 Paintings and Drawings. The show is entitled, " Beauteous Contemplations - An Invitation to Journey". I hope you will be able to visit.

I INVITE YOU TO CONSIDER

MY PAINTING COLLECTION
and
MY NEW BOOK

"Beauteous Contemplations"

By Robert Bursik
Architect and Painter

I started my Painting Collection in 1976, and it currently has 135 Paintings and Drawings, in 8 specific Series.

My goal as an artist has been to learn, internalize, and become sensitive to the subjects and techniques in all aspects of painting.

Over the years that I have been painting, I have been interested in a number of genra, including Landscapes and Flowers, Classical Copies of Raphael, Titan, and others, Portraits and Life Studies, and my Opal Series, which are expressions of my Dreams and Meditations.

I have used a number of techniques, including oil, watercolor, pen & ink and charcoal.

In addition to the primary concept of Art, to inspire a sense of Beauty in the observer, my Collection also intends to explore the most profound activities of the Human Being : Beauty, Empathy, The Value and Capacity of the Human Mind, Perception, Physics, Fear and Anger, and other subtile facets of the Human Being. It is my hope that an observer of my Work will be lost to himself for a while, lost in Beauty, and Serenity, lost in the detail, lost in the subject, and in the moment.

Therefore, I believe that you will find the diversity, composition, and Concept of this Collection, to be interesting and unusual.

Included on my Art Website are photos of my 8 Painting Series, and "The Concept of the Collection".

Please view several Pages to ascertain the Scope of my Collection.

In my "Mural Landscape Series" is "The Cherry Blossom Festival",
a 10' x 7' highly detailed mural painting of the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C.,
taking 6,000 hours to paint over a 12 year period, and containing over 3,000 detailed flowers.

There are 6 paintings in my Mural Landscape Series, from 5' to 10'.

It is my experience that when a Painting get over 5', the viewer relates to it differently: it becomes more like an environment in which the viewer is immersed in the painting, part of the painting, rather that looking at it as a picture. However, as the size, and detail, of the painting increase, so too does the degree of difficulty go up geometrically, until eventually, even though the artist my have the vision and ability to paint the picture, the logisitcs make it nearly impossible.

Other Series include : "Classical Copies and Sketches", copies of Raphael and Titan,
"Portrait Series", "Life Studies Series", "Flowers and Bamboo Series", "Small Landscape Series", and my
"Opal Series", with currently 37 Paintings and Drawings.

I will be adding additional new Paintings to my Opal Series over the summer, so please come back occasionally.

My Opal Series is the expressions of my dreams and Meditations, which come to me each day out of the darkess of my sleep, unfolding like a Flower of Light into a Living Persian Rug of Infinate Shapes and Colors. They are the expression of the Infinate Peace and Beauty that is the Human Soul. This is further explained in my book, "Beauteous Contemplations".

My paintings are priced from $50, for Small Opals, to $125,000 for Large Mural Landscapes. For paintings shown, but not specifically priced, please inquire.

The intrinsic value of a painting is first in whether people enjoy looking at it, and derive some meaning from it. And also, its' value is conditioned on it is how a painting fits into a particular Collection, by this artist. I believe you will find that this Collection will find a place in Art History, and that each painting will attain an identity in the Collection.

I would also like to invite you to review my new Book,
"BEAUTEOUS CONTEMPLATIONS"

It is the true story of how I overcame the pain of Migraine Headaches,
40 years ago, through Meditation.

It is about the resulting considerations,"How can this be?", and, "What does this Mean?"

"Beauteous Contemplations" is 176 Full-color pages, illustrated by my Paintings.

Also in my Book are "The Precis", 1-page Essays on 50 various topics, including:
"Beauty", "The Value and Capicity of the Human Mind", "Light, Energy, and Matter", "Perception", "Love", "Fear", "Anger", "Meditation", and others.

My Essay, "Meditations and Visualizations" describes my Dreams and Meditations, which are the basis of my Opal Series of Paintings.

Saint Thomas said, "Angels are beings of Light, each as different, one to the other, as an elephant is to a flea".

Buddha said, " Within each man are endless forms, and within each form are again endless forms"

And I wondered, "How can this be?", and "What does this mean?"

And, through my experiences, I found it to be true. I consider that,
"People are Designed to Experience Great Beauty, and Achieve Great Serenity", and that,
"The Quality of Thought, Determinnes the Quality of Space".

Also included are 100 of my Architectural Projects, Letters of Recommendation, and my Report to Congress - 1975 - Alternative Energy Solutions

My book is available directly from me, for $24.50, through this Website, or contact me directly. Prefered payment is PayPal.

The book is shipped directly from the publisher, Create Space, of

I believe you will find this to be an interesting and unusual Story, and Book.

I hope you enjoy my Work, and
Regards,

Robert Bursik - Architect and Painter
