Je suis un artiste émergent qui exploite de façon personnelle le mouvement pop art et qui crée sous le nom de Rim’s depuis 2018.
J’ai une double formation d’artiste et de comédien. J’ai été humoriste, enseignant en art dramatique et metteur en scène. Ce dernier métier a aiguisé mon sens de l’observation, de la composition et de la mise en valeur des contrastes. Je possède une formation en bande dessinée.
Démarche artistique
J’ai commencé à peindre sur tablette digitale en 2018, après avoir étudié le street art lors de mes voyages à Miami et à Toronto. Je crée des œuvres pop art représentant des artistes célèbres, des animaux, des scènes sportives, etc. Je joue avec les codes de la publicité, du cinéma ou de la bande dessinée, en les détournant, les déformant ou les sublimant.
Je m’intéresse aux paradoxes entre l’ordre et le désordre, entre la lumière et l’ombre, entre la couleur et le noir et blanc. Dans mon travail sur le paradoxe, j’aime juxtaposer l’aspect neuf et usé, en rajoutant volontairement des coups de pinceau, des taches, des lignes disparates, etc. Mes créations expriment ma personnalité colorée et joviale.
J’ai exposé en Floride lors d'une exposition collective à Boynton beach en Floride ainsi qu'à la galerie le Hangart à Montréal en 2023.
Je participerai à un symposium à St- Hyacinthe au Quebec fin avril 2024. J'exposerai en solo dans un café à Chambly au Québec pendant tout le mois de juin 2024.
I am an emerging artist who personally exploits the pop art movement and has been creating under the name Rim's since 2018.
I have a double training as an artist and an actor. I have been a comedian, drama teacher and director. This last job sharpened my sense of observation, composition and enhancement of contrasts. I have a background in comics.
Artistic approach
I started painting on a digital tablet in 2018, after studying street art during my trips to Miami and Toronto. I create pop art works depicting famous artists, animals, sports scenes, etc. I play with the codes of advertising, cinema or comics, diverting them, distorting them or sublimating them.
I am interested in the paradoxes between order and disorder, between light and shadow, between color and black and white. In my work on paradox, I like to juxtapose the new and worn appearance, by deliberately adding brushstrokes, stains, disparate lines, etc. My creations express my colorful and jovial personality.
I exhibited in Florida during a group exhibition in Boynton Beach in Florida as well as at the Hangart gallery in Montreal in 2023.
I will participate in a symposium in St-Hyacinthe, Quebec at the end of April 2024. I will exhibit solo in a café in Chambly, Quebec throughout the month of June 2024
