I paint you from the sky.You look like a majestic archway to the city.
Lavishly ornated galleries are hiding your Machine Age trusses.
I feel for you,I connect to you,your soul is everywhere.
Paris born Art Deco was nourished by Egyptian excavations.
You make me think of India ,Mesopotamia and Mesoamerica.
You were made in Canada when style just started to go global
I am always longing for somewhere and you fly me to India.
Captain Vancouver and Sir Harry Burard's sculpted busts become a Sultan and a Rajah.
No turbaned man on the sidewalk, no yellow cab on the five lane street but a single white elephant,
Buldozer of obstacles, symbol of luck and quiet prosperity.
A floating white Palace will anchor in English Bay,
Translucent Punjabi dream, melting Hindu and Persian styles,
Will show that long before Art deco, human culture has fed on hybridity.
Sanskrit,Ancient Greek,Germanic,Latin and Celtic languages were born on the same easel.

Born in Hyères, on the French Riviera, Philippe Metaireau studied architecture,perspective, drawing, and painting at the Ecole d'Art et d'Architecture de Marseille Luminy where he got his masters . He[...]

Born in Hyères, on the French Riviera, Philippe Metaireau studied architecture,perspective, drawing, and painting at the Ecole d'Art et d'Architecture de Marseille Luminy where he got his masters .
He started his career as an interior designer at Jansen, Paris, travelling extensively to the
Middle East : Prince Abdallah's Mosque in Taif, Saudi Arabia , Al Bustahn Palace Hotel in Mascat, Sultanate of Oman.
He then evolved into painting large scale murals and painting collections for hotels, interior designers and private clients. His work can be found in chateaux, churches, mosques, and public buildings in France, Switzerland, Canada, Bali, the Carribean and Oman.
He now lives in Opio, French Riviera, where is his Atelier.
His last exhibitions were : 2012 La Bouitte Relais et Chateaux ,Michelin ***.
