He is an visual artist known for his visual narratives realized through elaborate and intricate pen-and-ink drawings. He employs painting, illustration and watercolors within his works. His drawings establish a link between the reality and that imagined by its viewer. In his personal art Alexander frequently uses illustration style techniques. Also medieval culture, from French engravings to old Japanese art, inspires him greatly.
Petrunine has traveled and shown in countries such as Russia, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Lithuania, USA and Serbia.
