Strong, warm and high-contrast colors characterize the painting that is situated between dream and reality.
The eye is magically drawn to the center, where flames seem to blaze. Around this “burning”, one discovers architectural artifacts, i.e., design fragments from a bygone era, which are nevertheless often seen in the eye of the beholder as “everlasting and timelessly beautiful”. Filigree, forged balcony cladding, a floral ornament of a façade and elements of the stucco cladding of a house
façade – such as the keystone of an archway and a round-arched window – are sketched with clear lines in authentic form and vividly shaded. At the upper left edge of the picture, the wave patterns of a window curtain can be seen. Right below, a black-and-white cat sits relaxed, its gaze turned towards the viewer, and keeping an eye on what is happening on the street. A man in a hat can be seen there, just about to go for a walk with his dog in joyful unison. This calming scene is completed by an old tree whose branches make the painting filigree and border the street scene. This picture is again dedicated to the villa district in the southern city center of St. Pölten. This is presented by the silhouette of a spire at the top of the painting, which is recognized as an unmistakable symbol of the capital of Lower Austria.
